Poll Results: Which Was The Coolest Weapon Ever?

Whew! It's about time that I sourced out the results of this many-weeks-old poll. And the results were less than surprising. Perhaps I shouldn't have included the lightsaber as an option - because the majority are bound to go for it.

There is little doubt that the lightsaber was and is one of the most classic retro-weapons ever. It is the most noticeable and most niche amongst mass market collectors, and one of the most beloved and adored by Star Wars fanatics (of which, there are thousands).

In preparation of the above poll result, I did a little bit of information sourcing and dug up the above diagram which gives a pretty nice explanation of the mechanics of the lightsaber - great for moderate Star Wars fans, such as myself, and old news to the fanatics out there. In any case, read and learn.

Lightly following behind the popularity of the lightsaber is the Sword of Greyskull, the power-harness of He-Man. I dig this sword because I used to have the plastic weapon play-set, that came with chest armor and a shield even. I was such a pampered child. However, I must be honest and point out that the design of this sword left little to be desired. It had no real distinctive features save for the two-holed hilt. But now I'm just nit-picking.

A big thanks to the one voter for the Sword Of Omens. I could never leave out this classic Thundercats propaganda - another one of those really 'see-it-and-know-it-already' items. God bless 'em and no one else.

You guys know how much I dig retro theme songs. Well, just in case you didn't; I really dig retro theme songs. And it seems that theme songs are hard to debate, even up until today.

Jem and Thundercats both got votes, but in the lead are the Smurfs and M.A.S.K., with two votes each. In all honesty, there are very few Bruneians out there right now who do not know the Smurfs song. It's a classic, it's simple and it's been around for almost as long as 'Beat It' by Michael Jackson. On the other hand, M.A.S.K. just plain out rocks (to me, anyway).

Theme songs were what made cartoons memorable. And cartoons were supported would have been supported by the characters. Enjoy the week, super-friends.

Poll Results: If I Had My Own KITT Car, I Would...?

I refuse to show the bottom half of that picture, purely due to the fact that this is a family-style blog and the display of chest-hair and popping pecs and ads is something us comic-fans find totally demeaning and devastating to our ego. That, and it's just not cool to see.

In any case, a big thanks to voters this time around. You guys just crack me up.

Nice to know that one voter is actually willing to show off his/her gains by parading through Gadong - no shame there. Another voter even feels he/she has the toughness to left home and spend the rest of their life in their own KITT, crusing the highways, searching for adventure.

But the rest of you out there decided to hit up a huge afro, just to go with your bangin' car - more power to the people. Remember, an afro a day attracts kutu that'll stay.

Poll Results: Which Was The Coolest Retro Vehicle Ever?

Welcome to another week, retro fans. It's another week of blogging on my side, and another week of reliving classic moments for you guys (of course, apart from the fact that we are all bothered by that boring, but necessary, thing called work).

The results are in and the winners stand and owned by two different retro vehicles: the everlasting KITT and the ever-powerful Airwolf. A big thanks to all those who took the time to vote.

Ironically enough, I agree totally with the two top winners. I wouldn't know which vehicle to pick if I were given a choice. KITT has the cool artificial intelligence thing going on (not discounting the fact that it would outshine any car going through Gadong on a Saturday night), whereas Airwolf has enough fire-power to blow up every car going through Gadong on a Saturday night. It's a tough choice.

The surprising turnout came from the die-hard fan who picked Streethawk - props to you for picking a classic, classic vehicle; a real blast from the past. And purely for that retro individual, I am inspired to do a little research into that little power bike from the 80s.

Take care, super-friends, and remember to be kind to each other on the road (there ain't to reason to be fighting).

Thanks for the votes, super-friends. As you can clearly see, more of your crazies out there would prefer to be able to transform into a Mack truck (just like good, old Optimus). That's a pretty awesome ability to have, but at the size we Bruneians are, I doubt this Mack truck would be that big.

We are also glad to have at least one Star Wars fan out there who'd love to have a working light-saber. I would too, of course. On top of that, we've got one confirmed hot-blooded male who'd cut his little toe off for a date with the very fine April O'Neill. Can't argue with that.

Poll Results: Which Was The Coolest Cartoon Sidekick?

Awww! Look how happy you voter made the little guy. Slimer came out on tops for being the coolest cartoon sidekick out of that short list. Mind you, there are hundreds of sidekicks out there from out of the 80s and this poll choice list barely even covers it.

Slimer, possibly the ugliest, least hygienic, least house-broken sidekick can be aptly remembered from his appearances in the Ghostbusters movies, toy lines and cartoon series. No doubt, he's had a lot of exposure. Yet, we could also argue the same for the rest of the sidekicks on that list. However, a little bit behind is T-Bob, of M.A.S.K. fame.

T-Bob was cool because he could take you places on short notice.

In any case, thanks for your involvement, good people. And keep an ear to the ground for the newest news on anything retro-style.

Poll Results: Which Character Should Have Appeared In The 2007 Transformers Movie

Thanks to all those fans who voted. It seems the results are pretty clear cut: Soundwave is the top favorite of characters who should have made an appearance in this month's block-buster movie.

Perhaps it may have something to do with the fact that Soundwave was one of the original characters to appear in the very first episode of the Generation I series, that and plus the fact that there's a great, great chance that those other fellas listed on the poll may be set to appear in the future-coming Transformers sequels as well. And, we can always hope.

Alright. That's how it shapes up for the readers willing enough to state their opinions. Cheetara comes out on top with She-ra and Crystal Kane sharing the runner's-up place - a good, good selection.

Cheetara probably holds the top spot purely based on that skimpy thing that she is forced to run around in in the cartoons. She-ra, of course, rocks the mini-skirt look (plus that with those killer legs of her's). And, Crystal Kane is made up of just plain, straight-forward femininity. It's a tough poll; glad y'all were brave enough to give your opinion, all you naughty boys out there.

A big thanks to all those who voted. The results are out and the answer is probably what everyone of us here at Classic Articulation and The House Of El would have guessed it would be.

The clear winner is big red himself, Optimus Prime - quite possibly the coolest mother from Temburong to Cybertron. But, let's not dis-count the others out there, like Shockwave (runner-up for the coolest position; as well as for having the weirdest voice in the Decepticon line up - but, even Megatron doesn't dare make fun of him) and Shockwave (quite possibly the coolest gun-shaped Transformer there ever was).

Of course, there are hundreds more that could have been added to the list. Let's just say, the Transformers were an awesome bunch of house-sized fellas.
