And the Transformers wave of nostalgia doesn't seem to stop. It looks like the demand for more of the Generation I stuff is so strong that Takara Tomy has decided to come up with the Encore series.
What exactly is the Encore series, if you don't already know?
The Transformers Encore series is a purely Japanese import (meaning to say, the packaging will be in Japanese). Apart from slight deviations in color and paint, these Encore Transformers are as close to the very first wave of Autobots and Decepticons as chocolate is to chocolate milk. Meaning: almost exact. So, if you're just dying to re-live that old childhood of yours with nothing but the most exact of 80s Transformers replicas, then I'd imagine you'd go for this series.
The painting and layout of the packaging is practically the same as the original and the figures are cast as the same bulky and lovable figures of the retro years. If that's your thing, then you'd want this awesome series.
Note: Megatron, in the Encore series is still a hand-gun.
The very first wave of the Encore series consists of four main fellas: Optimus Prime, Megatron, Soundwave and Starscream. Price ranges of the figures go from US$65 (B$98) to US$35 (B$52) so it's all a matter for shopping around. To have a quick look at what to expect, check out:

I know I do. Except that I have been banned from international purchases for the time being (don't ask, just don't ask).
